Located only two miles from the coast, East Llanteg Farm is an ideal base for exploring Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire or visiting the renowned South Pembrokeshire beaches and coastal path.

 

Here we have listed some suggested places to visit - all easily accessible from the farm:

  • AMROTH: Small seaside village about two miles directly opposite the farm down a country road. Good beach and safe bathing waters. A few shops, pub and restaurants.
  • COLBY GARDENS: National Trust property. Walled Garden and woodland walks. Tea-rooms and picnic sites. Start of the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path. Just over a mile from the Farm.
  • PENDINE: Seaside village about four miles up the coast from Amroth with large expanse of sandy beach. Small museum dedicated to Donald Cambell and his attempts to break the land speed record on Pendine sands.
  • LLAUGHARNE: Coastal town, some two miles along the coast from Pendine, made famous by the poet Dylan Thomas. Visit the Boathouse and writing shack where Dylan did much of his work or visit the castle.
  • SAUNDERSFOOT: Well known seaside resort with sandy beach and good bathing. Shops, pubs plus amusement arcade. Boating centre with harbour, fishing trips etc. About six miles from the Farm.
  • FOLLY FARM: Large working farm specially catering for visitors. Get close to the animals and help with the feeding. Tractor trips around the fields. Very popular with children. About five miles from East Llanteg.
  • TENBY: About eight miles from the Farm probably the best known seaside resort in Pembrokeshire. Two sandy beaches, safe bathing and lots of shops and amusements. Boat trips around the coast or to Caldy Island.
  • HERONS BROOK: Adventure playground for children about five miles from the farm. Small animals and a golf course for the older children and parents.
  • OAKWOOD: Large theme park similar to Alton Towers. Roller Coasters and similar rides. Canaston indoor bowls situated alongside. Located about seven miles from the Farm.
  • NATIONAL BOTANICAL GARDEN of WALES: Newly opened and acclaimed botanical garden with a huge domed green house. Delight for gardeners. Situated in Towy Valley with splendid views. A bit further afield, about 25 miles, but well worth a visit. The above are a few suggestions, many other attractions within easy reach.

BEACHES & SAILING: spoilt for choice with several sandy beaches, please see comments regarding Amroth, Saundersfoot and Tenby.

FISHING: There are almost unlimited opportunities for sea fishing either from the beaches at Amroth or Pendine plus boat trips from Saundersfoot harbour. In addition there are three well stocked fishing lakes all within a three mile radius of the farm.

HORSE RIDING: About three miles from the farm there is a well established riding / trekking centre that caters for all abilities. More experienced riders can gain access to the beach for galloping across the sand.

EATING OUT: There are numerous restaurant / pubs within a few minutes drive from the Farm. All have an excellent reputation for good food at reasonable prices. Further information and description on what they offer are available to all our guests should they ask.

WALKS: There are numerous walks to suit all ranging from the famous Pembrokeshire Coast Path which starts at Amroth, woodland walks at Colby Gardens and numerous opportunities to walk across the many beaches. All are only a few minutes drive from the Farm.

Exploring Castles: Many noteworthy historic houses and castles within easy reach the best examples being the castles at Carew, Pembroke and Manobier and theTudor merchants house in Tenby. Alittle further afield is the historic cathedral at St Davids and the ancient castle overlooking the Teifi gorge in Cilgerran.

Exploring Gardens: Again many examples of fine gardens to enjoy. The closest Colby Woodland Gardens is only just over a mile from the Farm. It is ideal for lovers of woodland walks and there are often staged events set in the magnificent grounds. Carmarthenshire is known as the 'Garden County' and the best are set in the picturesque Towy Valley. Whilst it involves travelling approximately twenty miles the Towy Valley is well worth a visit if only to visit the National Botanical Garden of Wales.
